A dream of your own…and a partner to help

“A law school education for your daughter – one as remarkable as her brilliance. The house on the lake that becomes a haven for you and your family. A retirement as carefree as childhood.

We all have dreams. They’re as unique and important as you are. And the path you take to achieve them will be distinctive too.

But it takes more than dreaming to get where you want to go. It takes a combination of time and careful planning to build financial resources that will make those dreams a reality. That’s why who you choose as your financial partner is crucial. That decision can be an enormous challenge.

You’ll find that partner in Charles Schwab.

Because no matter what type of investment service you need – from robust self-service research and trading tools, to customized advice, to complete portfolio management- we bring it to you. And everything we offer is backed by the promise to put you first. To provide the resources that help you achieve your dreams, no matter what they might be.

It’s a different way to look at investing, for a very unique investor: You.”

Offensive Ideas, Or, Why football’s most controversial play ultimately saved the game from extinction

“At the end of the 1800’s American football was a game of sheer muscle. Sixty minutes of mass-attack running plays after which the team with the most poundage and power was victorious. Reports of game-related injuries grew more common and alarming. Finally, in 1905, President Teddy Roosevelt issued an ultimatum: The game’s excessive roughness must end or the game itself would.

Georgia Tech football coach John Heisman recalled a controversial play he had seen years before and submitted an idea to the Rules Committee - allow players to throw the ball to receivers down the field.

Knute Rockne and Gus Dorais, players from a little-known college called Notre Dame, used the play to defeat nationally ranked Army in 1913. The tremendous possibilities of the forward pass were realized, as it transformed football into a strategic test of skill and intelligence as well as power. It made the game much more exciting for spectators and helped football gain the enormous popularity it has today.

Whether you’re looking to gain points or profits, there isn’t a game in town that can’t be strengthened by strategic thinking. It’s something to consider when you evaluate how your company manages its transportation.
